I’ve been an enthusiast of the Salesforce AppExchange apps for nine years now, and in recent years, I’ve been developing apps for the AppExchange.
Whenever new and exciting apps are released, I’m excited to download them and give them a try.
I hope you’re sitting down because I’m about to share some productivity apps in the AppExchange that may make you faint.
Clone this User by Arkus
Duplicates might get a bad rap here at RingLead, but with Clone This User (CTU), the admin can create the helpful kind of duplicates: Cloning users. CTU looks up existing users that serve as the basis for the new one, enters the name and email, and generates the username and password immediately.
Here’s a quick rundown of how it works:
- Click a ‘clone’ link from a specific existing user, or go right to the ‘Clone this User’ tab
- Select who you want to clone
- Enter the vital information for the new user
Now you’re off to the races.
Whether you’re an admin crunched for time, or crunching on your lunch, you can clone users from anywhere, even your smartphone, quickly and easily.
Capture by RingLead
It may not be in the AppExchange, but
Capture is just as plugged in. Capture is a Google Chrome plugin that makes prospect research a breeze. With a few clicks you can capture company and contact information from web pages, social profiles and search engine results and then automatically append additional contact information from across the web. Once you’ve had fun making lists, move the data right into Salesforce, where you can easily create Leads and Contacts.
What’s really exciting about Capture is it can grab contact data whether it’s on LinkedIn or unorganized and unstructured on a website or Excel file. It’s basically going to find the information, grab it, and put it in a palatable form that you can use.
Here’s how it works:
- Once it’s installed, go to the webpage where you’d like to capture the contact data
- Click on the Capture button in your Chrome browser
- The app will pull in all of the contact data on that page and organize it
- Click the Research button to populate any missing contact data and ensure the data is accurate
- Export it into Salesforce
The big win is the fourth point above. If you want more information about this person, this app scours the web and pulls it for you. For example, if you have an email address and not the phone number, it will find the phone number for you.
You might be wondering why I’m talking about an app that’s not in the AppExchange. Capture integrates with Salesforce, so even before I pass the contact data into Salesforce, I can check it for duplicates against my org. If it is a duplicate, you can merge it with the existing record and keep this new, updated contact data.
Drag and Drop Attachments by Techila Solutions
This app does exactly what the name alludes
: add an attachment by simply dragging and dropping. The app creates an area where your files can automatically attach under a specific record. Say goodbye to clicking tons of times and waiting for pages to load with each attachment. A drag and dropped area is simply a Visualforce page that you can add in line to your lead layout page.
Here’s how it works:
- Once it’s set up, select any lead
- Upon scrolling down, you’ll can see a hot zone where you can drop files
- Take a file, such as a PDF, and drag it from your computer to the hot zone
- A pop up will display to confirm that it worked
Now, when I scroll down to attachments, the PDF is ready for me. You can drop multiple files in this hot spot. This is much faster and easier than uploading files the old fashioned way.
